Staying Visible Over the Summer

Summer has traditionally meant kicking off DAC and then coasting into autumn, picking up speed again as everyone comes back from vacation. Somehow, despite the constraints imposed on resources by the economy, we all need to change that this year. Stay visible over the summer and hit the ground running after Labor Day. Here are some ideas:

  • Keep abreast of industry blogs, post and participate. Check out TechGuri -- www.techguri.com, a new geek-to-geek blog focused on analog/ mixed-signal, electronic system level, IC design, low power, physical design and verification. This is a blog with a twist - rather than being "owned" by one company or one blogger, a group of companies participates and reaches a widely-focused high-tech audience. Review other blogs here to be sure that you are keeping abreast of discussion in your particular part of the industry.
  • If you weren't able to attend the Business Forum session on new media at DesignCon, download it from our site and read actual case studies and statistics from ChipEstimate.com, National Semiconductor, SupplyFrame and Synopsys on how they have leveraged the use of and integrated these channels in their marketing communications mix. Download New Media/New Marketing: Using Online Media to Gain Competitive Advantage at cayennecom.com. Moderator Rhonda McGee, Director of Research for Reed Business Information, moderated the panel and outlined the results of Reed Business research that showed how engineers are making full use of available on-line news sources. Over the past two years, there has been double-digit growth in usage of blogs, video clips, RSS feeds, social networks, and on-line forums among electronic engineers. Panelists discussed how their companies use new media to extend their reach, establish their brand, and improve sales revenues. This very interactive panel explored why and how companies adopted these technologies, goals they hoped to achieve, hurdles they had to overcome, and what was ultimately accomplished.
  • Stay focused and credible. Now is not the time reduce your market presence, just the time to spend your marketing resources more wisely. Get in touch if you need help with updating your plan or your budget, updating your website, writing success stories, holding webinars or seminars, identifying speaking opportunities, writing articles, etc.
